Wondering… @ 02:28 pm

Current Mood: content

It's been quite some time since I've posted on my blog and even I am furious about this. I am trying to get things in place with regards to my business ideas. In the meanwhile I have enjoyed being at work and outperforming everyone else.

I must say that I have been visiting problogger a hell lot. Also, I've found some crazy stuff at BlogIsEverything.

It's week-end and hence I've got some time to look at other blogs and also post on my personal one.

Week-end… @ 11:21 am

Current Mood: worried

My week has been very hectic (as usual) and I have been wondering about how I will get things rolling to create my first internet based company.
I have a few restrictions:

1. At this point I cannot afford to buy too much hosting space.

2. I do NOT have much web-development experience.

3. I have a sketchy idea about it, but don't have huge data to support the number of users that will be active if I am able to launch a mobile blogging service.

4. I have very less time every day after my full-time job to get things done.

So, I guess these restrictions are huge at this point. I have to find a way to overcome these hurdles if I want to achieve my goal of making my concept a reality.

Current Music: Knockin' On Heavens Door - Guns N' Roses

It's quite true that I've almost ignored this journal for sometime.

In the three weeks I've been away I've created a new livejournal blog. To supplement it I've also created a new GreatestJournal blog. But I love this blog of mine and will continue posting here.

I apologise to all my friends who visited my blog but did not find it updated. I promise I'll keep these journals updated from now on.

Blogging after a long time. @ 10:27 pm

Current Mood: busy
Current Music: Love Me Tender - Elvis Presley

Yeah true!

I agree I have not blogged for a long time on this journal. In the meantime I visited Vox and I was happy about it. Just that it was a bit more confusing.

I'll try to keep my journal updated.

In the last few days I have been working overtime at office. I want to find more time for blogging, just cannot see where I'll be able to get it from.

Agony of BlackBerry withdrawal

I just read this and I feel addicted too! I get crazy when I'm out of network coverage for some reason. I'm even contemplating leaving my job just because when I'll be working on the floor, I'll have to switch off my BlackBerry. The thought is horrifying.

I can't imagine what my life would be without my BlackBerry.

Wibree - Is this the next big thing in short rage wireless radio? @ 05:38 am

Current Mood: curious

Nokia recently unveiled it's new bluetooth-type short range connectivity radio branded Wibree. Is Nokia trying to eat into the Bluetooth's share of the market? Is it a bit too late?

I feel that Bluetooth has been used by the geeks for connecting various devices and transferring data efficiently amongst them. Infact, a few innovative applications used the Bluetooth technology excited me a lot. Now, Wibree claims to use lesser power. That means it could be used for smaller device like a watch. Imagine that your watch flashes a message that you've received on your phone while you are in a meeting or driving. Now you can always have a look at your watch without any hassles. The ways in which this technology could be used is tremendous. To add to it, Wibree uses very less power. So all you cell phone users out there who use 2-3 radios simultaneously & hate your battery life it's a boon.

But I'm not going ga-ga about this new technology. I mean sure a huge number (estimated - 500mn) cell phones are Bluetooth-enabled but it's yet to be used by many. The whole connectivity of Bluetooth radio is also not very secure. So, if Nokia can work on these issues before it launches Wibree for public use, it could gain popularity. Oh! And did I mention that the data transfer speed for Wibree is only upto 1Mbps (if I'm not wrong). It's only a third of Bluetooth.

I felt it was worth taking this opportunity to thank all my friends on GJ for visit my journal and leaving comments. Unfortunately, I've been very busy for the last couple of days and hence I've been unable to visit my friends' journals and comment on them. For that I apologise.

Thank you for visiting my journal and reading this.

Leaving for Wada... @ 10:17 am

Current Mood: bouncy
Current Music: (Let me be your) Teddy Bear - Elvis Presley

Hey,

Guess what? I passed my assessments and got a decent score too. I am leaving for a place called Wada about 70 km from Mumbai. I have never been to the place before and hence don't know what to expect. All I can say is that I am excited as my supervisor Derwin, his manager Ryan and others are coming along on this trip. Also two SMEs (Subject Matter Experts) who've come from the UK are also coming along. I've already ordered pastries and chocolates for everyone and I'll be picking up pizzas for everyone on the way. The pastries will be the dessert after the pizzas. I love pastries and cakes...

I've to complete my packing as we will leave by around 12 p.m. Hope that it's a good trip. Till then...

Yawn... @ 09:14 am

Current Mood: tired

Finally my mid-term assessments were over. I fared well, but my batchmates were very nervous. I could feel it. It took quite a bit of time to complete the assessments. We started at 3 a.m. and completed the assessments by 6:45 a.m. I had my assessments at around 5 a.m. as we had to record our freespeech one-by-one. We also had to record a teachback on a topic that was randomly chosen. All-in-all it was good.

I am planning to sleep now as I am not trading on the stock markets today. We will be receiving our feedback tonight. So I'll have good sleep.

Training Day 8. @ 09:49 am

Current Mood: sleepy
Current Music: Not Enough Time - INXS

I am so sleepy right now. It's 9:30 a.m. And I have not slept yet. Can't sleep now as the Indian stock markets, BSE & NSE will open at 9:55 a.m. I trade on a daily basis and also manage money for a few people. I can't really call them clients as they all know me personally, though I have to give a specific percentage of the amount they have deposited with me every month.

I feel pressurised. I am being pulled in many directions here. But I really cannot help. I need to make money, and fast. Aaargh..! Nevertheless, my day at work was quite okay. We will be assessed on our learnings from the training in the next session. Hence, today we practised free speech. We also had to teachback what we had learned in training. However, a lot of the trainees felt uncomfortable and spaced out. They could not put their thoughts accross or answer questions by my trainer which made her angry. It was bad. I have been working in this company for two years now, and I did not like what happened. Although she did not express her anger, she was justified. How could the trainees not answer simple questions? It's just frustrating for any trainer to see their trainees blanked out after a week and a half of training. Man... It was bad.

Hope the trainees perform in the assessment which will be in the next session at 11 p.m. today. I'm feeling a bit sleepy so I'll take a quick shower before the markets open. It's only 5 minutes to go. Gotta be glued to my notebook for the opening bell and first trades...

Cheers.

3G spectrum to be auctioned and launched soon in India. Yay! @ 09:22 am

Current Music: Another Day In Paradise - Phil Collins

Hey,

The .mobi domain registration has opened up a world of opportunities. Visit the link here. Already there's a huge demand for these domain names. Phew!

In the meantime, it's good news for the Indian mobile users. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) which is the telecom regulator, announced that the 3G spectrum would be auctioned and not given away free. Obviously it means that it will cost the cellular operators more. That in turn will mean that the cost of 3G services will be higher for the Indian mobile users. :(

However, I am happy that there is progress on the issue. Though the services may not be launched untill late next year. :( (Again)

Visit the link here.

Here's a link from India's leading daily

Cheers.
